EDC…

English Dhamma Camp… one of the objectives is not to let language problem become a barrier in learning dhamma. 7 days speaking only English…

Overall it’s very very very fun… a relax n interesting camp… this time Bhante used a different approach in teaching us… he didn’t focus much about the terms, but try to let us realize the important messages in each topic…

4 noble truths (四圣谛:苦集灭道): the suffering, the cause of suffering, the cessation suffering, and the ways leads to cessation of suffering… besides that there are many case studies, theme talks and sutta studies…

As a faci I learned a lot from my group members… our Pañña (wisdom) group members are really cute… we shared a lot dhamma, life experiences, point of views, problem study, cold jokes, laughter… we uses a lot of terms to complement our speeches: green white, needle right, open play laugh, one mountain still got one mountain high…etc etc…

During EDC idol we act out according to our group names, 6 paramithas (六般若蜜:布施、持戒、忍辱、禅定、精进、智慧). Besides bringing out the meaning, all the groups tried their best to entertain the audience. In my group I act as ****. Just for 做效果. (After that they used my name when describing something: because of eating vege everyday, I face difficulties to ‘xiao hui’ nowadays…)

In our last night, as usual, we had our ‘Endless Light’ session. Light represents dhamma which been passed down from Buddha since 2500++ years. We light up the candles, led by the warden to walk into spiral, besides singing the theme song… and then walked out from the spiral to form a big circle again. Then we all sat down to share our feelings after going through the whole camp.

After the camp I felt a bit weird when speaking mandarin. Everyone had the same feeling…
